  • Horowitz in London (1982)

Recorded and broadcast in May 1982, Horowitz's technique was begining to decline, though he retained all the fire of his playing. Two of the encores, Scriabin Etude in D-sharp minor, op. 8, no. 12 and Rachmaninoff's Polka de VR have been omitted from this production. Snippets of the Scriabin Etude are seen/heard in the Horowitz: A Reminiscence documentary from 1993. This has been made available in the past on a VHS tape and as a Laserdisc. This has never been reissued on DVD. It is frequently available on e-Bay; Amazon.com New & Used

  • Horowitz in Tokyo (1983)

Recorded in June 1983, Horowitz's technique was at it's all-time low, Wanda called this recital a funeral. Indeed it was suspected that Horowitz would never play again after this recital. Despite Horowitz's shocking inaccuracies, there are still 'moments of genius.' Horowitz's playing in this recording has been described as 'late Cortot on crack,' a funny sounding, though not wholely inaccurate assessment. Originally released only VHD (an obsolete technology), this video is now available transfered to DVD from Classical Video Rarites.

  • The Last Romantic (1985)

After a few years rest and some at-home unofficial rehabilitation Horowitz was ready to begin performing again. Horowitz recorded the material on this production in his own living room. We see a rejuvinated, different Horowitz, somone in much more control than in the 1982 and 1983 recitals. The only thing lacking in Horowitz's performance from this point on was preparation, Horowitz admittedly did not practice very much and it shows. DVD Out of Print Check eBay

In 2003, in celebration of the centennial of Horowitz's birth, Sony Classical issued Horowitz: Live and Unedited. As a bonus to this set of discs, a DVD was included with outtakes from The Last Romantic that were not used in the original film. Think of it as the 'deleted scenes' that just didn't work out right for the original feature. Included are complete performances of Liszt's Au bord d'une source, Chopin Etude in G-flat major, op. 10, no. 5, and Moszkowski Etude in F major, op. 72, no. 6.

  • Horowitz in Moscow (1986)

Described by his wife as "the high point of his career," this is a Horowitz recital not to be missed. Due to it's fame, it is widely available. There are two versions of this recital. One version was released on Sony VHS and DVD, the other version has been released on Pioneer Classics Laserdisc and DVD. There are two major differences. The Sony Version lacks professional quaility video and audio, but contains the entire concert. The Pioneer Version is missing the final encore, the Polka de VR, however the audio and video quality are phenomenal.

The following clips were recorded and broadcast in conjunction with Horowitz in Moscow, this footage appears in certain productions of Horowitz in Moscow as filler.
